You're getting visitors. People are landing on your site. But they're not contacting you, not buying, not converting. In almost every case, the problem isn't the product or the price. It's one of five things that are fixable — sometimes in an afternoon.
1. Your site loads too slowly
Google's research consistently shows that conversion rates drop sharply as page load times increase. A site that takes more than 3 seconds to load will lose a significant chunk of visitors before they've even seen your content. The biggest culprits: oversized images, poorly-coded WordPress themes, too many plugins, no caching. Run your site through Google PageSpeed Insights and address what it tells you.
2. It's not clear what you want visitors to do
Every page on your site should have one primary action you want the visitor to take. One. Look at your homepage right now. What's the primary call to action? Is it immediately obvious to someone who's never seen your site before? If you have to think about it, it's not clear enough.
3. Your copy doesn't speak to the customer
Most business websites talk about the business. "We are a leading provider of..." "Our team of experts offers..." Your customers don't care about any of that. They care about their problem and whether you can solve it. Compare: "We provide comprehensive plumbing and heating services across Suffolk" vs "Boiler broken? We cover all of Suffolk — usually same day." The second speaks to a need. The first doesn't.
4. There's no social proof
People buy from businesses they trust. Trust is built through evidence — reviews, testimonials, case studies. If your site has no reviews and no evidence that other people have used you and been happy, you're asking visitors to take a leap of faith. Most won't. Put reviews where they can be seen — on your homepage and service pages, not buried on a "testimonials" page.
5. Your contact process is too hard
Every additional step between a visitor deciding they're interested and actually getting in touch is an opportunity for them to change their mind. Make it easy: phone number in the header, a form with just name, email, and message, and a clear statement of when you'll respond.
The common thread
All five issues come down to friction. Remove the friction and the conversions follow. If you'd like us to take a look at your site and tell you what's holding it back, get in touch. We'll give you a straight answer.
